@hakunamakunana @awindywalker @josiezayner I would say there's literature thats related to the problem, not that there is literature on the problem
English

@MissingAFew90 @awindywalker @josiezayner Thats quite common that similar techniques cover a large spectrum of problems, yet the authors apply it to the one problem of their own interest, and let other students do the rest of the applications, if anyone wants to

We get it. Every AI model has solved Erdos problems. But like maybe the 1,217 Erdos problems aren't as complicated as people thought and/or no one has just really ever tried to solve many of them?
Polymarket@Polymarket
JUST IN: Google DeepMind says its AI solved 9 open Erdős problems — considered among the hardest unsolved questions in mathematics.
English

@MN_Vikings_Pete @josiezayner You really dont see why its a positive sign that an AI can generate solutions to unsolved problems?
Lean doesnt prove, it just verifies.
English

@MissingAFew90 @josiezayner Yes, that is my question. It's impressive, I guess, but Lean has been doing something similar for over a decade.
Not many people work on Erdos problems because they don't really tell us much. It's the equivalent of knowing bar trivia - cool, impressive, sure, but not valuable.
English

@awindywalker @josiezayner There's literature on it but no one has tried to solve it? 🤨
English

@MissingAFew90 @josiezayner from reading around, it was a good balance of being a set of problems famous enough to have a enough literature and a good database describing them but not important enough that their proofs really matter enough to have much actual researchers seeking proofs
English

@MN_Vikings_Pete @josiezayner Why is it a positive sign that AI can solve problems that haven't been solved?
English

@MissingAFew90 @josiezayner Yeah, but why? What benefit will accrual from their solving?
These aren't exam questions, we don't get anything just because we know the answer.
English

@disclosetv Seems like wishful thinking. Could perhaps work if a state of Palestine was included in the accords.
English

@mSykeCodes @HSVSphere Why would anyone do that, I don't get it. Doesn't it peel?
English

@MissingAFew90 @HSVSphere I live in a house where a previous owner did this to the kitchen floor. It's absolutely awful
English

@mSykeCodes @HSVSphere That and whatever the fuck he did to the floor? That can't be painted too, right? That would be insane
English

@HSVSphere Painting a granite countertop is absolutely insane behavior

@yacineMTB But the second time around is easier (at least for me, my wife says it's just because I didn't have to carry the baby which is probably true)
English

@yacineMTB I remember our second was a surprise and we found out like 1 week before a 2+ month trip to China to visit the in-laws
I had to leave a bit early for work and my wife had to deal with morning sickness without me around. Also missed the first ultrasound 😭

People somehow completely misunderstood my tweet

@jawwwn_ @PalmerLuckey Well that's one thing Palmer seems to have gotten right about China at least.
English

.@PalmerLuckey: American companies don't actually have engineers anymore.
"American companies have been hollowed out."
"We're not teaching engineers how to be engineers anymore."
"We're not teaching designers how to actually design things to be manufactured."
"We're teaching them how to be high-level design shops that put together a design package, that gets sent to the real engineers in China—and they actually figure out how to do the work."
"People are turning into architecture astronauts."
"They pick components, and they put them in a nominal layout."
"But the real work of—how am I actually going to put this together? How am I going to build a manufacturing line to make this? How am I going to need to figure out how to do the one, two, three, four, five different revisions of this board to pass radio emissions and interference standards? That's all done in China. So they are the real engineers."
