I set out to tell the truth when I wrote my second book, The State of It. I had witnessed things that no child should ever experience while working in children's residential care, and seeing what happens when these vulnerable teenagers leave the system was frightening. I attend many care events, and unfortunately, these conversations are often brushed under the carpet. There is a dark side to the care system, and it continues to destroy the lives of our children. There’s no red carpet—only victims and survivors. However, change is coming. #factsmatter #changeiscoming
