Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) remains one of the most common and complex injuries among post-9/11 veterans. TBI rarely exists in isolation. It is often connected to PTSD, sleep disruption, depression, chronic pain, and challenges with employment and family stability after transition. The VA also faces a scale challenge. Large numbers of veterans are living with mild-to-moderate TBI (mTBI), and the current care structure is not designed to meet that demand alone. The BEACON Act helps address this gap alongside existing VA treatment options. It would expand access to advanced, evidence-based, non-medication treatment approaches for veterans living with TBI. The goal is to improve long-term recovery, strengthen reintegration outcomes, and reduce downstream risk factors that compound over time. The BEACON Act modernizes how we approach brain health and builds a stronger ecosystem of care around veterans suffering from TBI. The VA has reversed a decades-old policy that reported certain veterans to NICS simply for receiving fiduciary assistance. Veterans should never have to choose between accessing benefits and preserving constitutional rights. We commend @DeptVetAffairs leadership for correcting this. Later today, the Senate Armed Services Committee will hear testimony from Senior Enlisted Leadership across all services on the topic of service members' and families' quality of life. Quality of life on active duty directly impacts how a transitioning service member returns to life as a civilian and veteran and is something we watch closely at Mission Roll Call. This is the first such reorganization of the VHA in 30 years. Secretary Collins will testify on this topic in front of the House Veterans Affairs Committee tomorrow morning at 1015. Here's the link for those interested in watching the hearing. Have thoughts on this reorganization? Comment below. Mission Roll Call’s advocacy is built on listening to the veteran community and delivering direct, unfiltered input to policymakers in Washington. We collect it at scale, analyze it honestly, and put it in front of Congress, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and our Veteran Service Organization partners so veteran voices shape the policy debates that matter. Our 2026 work is underway. It is focused, data-driven, and grounded in the lived reality of veterans navigating care, benefits, and systems that are not keeping pace with their needs. We practice evidence-based advocacy, and to veterans this is not abstract. This is policy informed by veterans nationwide and carried forward by partners willing to do the hard work of reform. Watch how veteran data informs legislative debate, how lived experience shapes policy, and how sustained advocacy drives real outcomes. This is what it looks like when veterans lead and the community executes. missionrollcall.org/veteran-voices…...

Yesterday, our CEO, Jim Whaley, testified before the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, bringing the voices of veterans who participate in our survey directly to policymakers. Mission Roll Call survey data helps inform these discussions and elevate solutions aligned with veterans’ real needs. Yesterday's hearing focused on key challenges facing veterans today, including #traumaticbraininjuries (TBIs); suicide prevention; mental health; opioid addiction; and #accesstocare within the VA system and in the community. Jim shared Mission Roll Call survey data to illustrate how widespread and urgent these challenges are for veterans across the country. Advocacy starts with listening. We’re listening. Now it’s your turn to add your voice.
