Good stories don’t just show up, you have to chase them, question them, verify them until they speak. This is what I learned at the @CJIDAfrica SAIL+ Programme organised in Accra, Ghana & Dakar with other journalists across west Africa. Grateful for the opportunity 🙏

Today’s session in Accra, was not just insightful but truly eye-opening on OSINT and fact-checking tools. I had a lot to take home 🤗

Across West Africa, journalists are navigating an increasingly difficult media landscape shaped by rising disinformation, shrinking resources, and growing pressure on independent media, especially in oppressive environments. This week, the CJID, in partnership with Free Press Unlimited, convenes journalists from Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Côte d'Ivoire for a three-day workshop marking the start of a six-month fellowship focused on fact-checking, investigative and solutions journalism. The goal is to support journalists to develop storytelling approaches that respond to the realities of today's information ecosystem, as the real work lies in how information is handled, verified, and presented. Day 1 of 3. Watch this space for more! Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands (@DutchMFA).

For a long time, I spoke about climate change only in terms of floods, heat, and drought. But a recent media training changed my perspective. I learned that climate change began centuries ago, with human choices: machines over hands, coal over clean air, factories over forests.
