I swear if one more cul-de-sac philosopher and suburban absolutist argues that Starlink sucks because his fibre package is XYZ... You can literally drive 2 hours NE of Cape Town and find yourself in an area with no connectivity for miles. South Africa keeps clinging to the G20 like a legacy badge, while quietly sliding down the African leaderboard. Across the continent, kids in remote villages are logging onto Starlink, learning to code, trading ideas globally, and competing in a digital economy. In South Africa, our kids are being taught how not to fall into pit toilets. You can’t posture as a global player while basic dignity is still an achievement unlocked. You can’t lead Africa when others are teaching future skills and you’re still firefighting infrastructure failures from the last century. Africa is moving forward in pockets and South Africa risks becoming the cautionary tale of a country that talked geopolitics while the rest quietly invested in its children. Foam-fence humans are going to be the end of us. Tell me your idea of civilization ends at the security gate and that you don't get out much, without telling me.
