@brassoteach I got rid half way through last year (Y5) and had none this year (y6). Haven't missed them and won't be going back to them.

Filling in an application for a new job (still teaching) and I am cringing at what I wrote in my personal statement 6 years ago. Did not realise how much I had developed until attempting to use it as inspiration.

Why does my toddler insist on getting up at 4.30 on a Saturday and a Sunday? It's worse on Sunday as the shops don't open till 10am! Not sure how I can maintain a positive energy on so little sleep 😴

Im starting to think Lucy Davis for otter? The 9-5 song just makes me think The Office! And that was filmed to look like reality but obviously wasn't. So real but not real. #TheMaskedSingerUK

@MrEMediaStudies 23. But that was 10 years ago when interest rates were low and the house was in an area where houses were very cheap.

At my contraceptive injection appt the nurse asked if I had kids. I replied 1, not long turned 3. Her response:"Time for another one soon then, won't be needing this much longer." No, not time for another one. One is enough for me. Why do we do this to women?

Starting to feel like I need to take a break from teaching. The constant demand is beginning to take it toll but I don't know if I'm just acting on impulse. I love teaching. Just hate everything else that comes with it.

Something I don’t think is discussed enough - how important it is for middle & senior leaders to remember what it’s like for a teacher ‘on the ground’ to teach full period days, often for 2-3 days back to back. Also, the accompanying markload, and inevitable cognitive fatigue.

Our class read aloud is Holes and I just can't seem to get in to it. There is such a hype around it but I'm not seeing it yet.

@MrAllington I've been considering this too. I'm at the top of the pay scale so unless I get an additional job, I know my pay is not increasing anytime soon. Everything is so expensive.

I’m think about tutoring. Those who have experience: Would you recommend it? Where do you advertise? What do you charge? What do you do about tax? Thank you! 🙌🏻 Retweets much appreciated. 🙏🏻

I have gotten in to the habit of spending my Saturdays alone planning, which is really sad. This weekend I'm breaking the habit. I still need to plan but work can't be everything.

@MissMozDog I've read that they cost very little to run, some cost around 5p an hour. I've got mine out and will be spending time in bed instead of putting the heating on.

@MrAllington I thought it would be the case. Luckily, it hasn't happened to me, just a thought I was thinking and wondered. I missed it last week as I had to take care of my little one but managed to work a bit from home to make up for it.

@MissusR_ My experience has been that you lose it, yes. But I’ve usually found that towards the end of an illness I am well enough to sit up and do a bit of planning, but not to manage a classroom of 30 children, so it works out tbh.

If you are off work sick on your PPA day, do you get your PPA back on a different day? Or is it just a case of bad luck?

@_whatamymade This happened to me during a lesson and also happened to me during a discussion with Ofsted. Luckily I had my PE kit with me to change. Had to speak to the doctors in the end as it just isn't pleasant.

No one talks about this but I’ve just had 3 lessons in a row and my period leaked. I had to stay still, not circulate the room or sit down and put my jacket on so the students couldn’t see 😬😩

@MissO_Ed The expectation is that you're prepared to do your job. It's ridiculous that a leader equates that with the expectation that work is done at home. It's completely up to the individual and people shouldn't feel pressured in to having to do work at home.
