This gentleman will make his Broadway debut next month playing Anne Boleyn in Six. Social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney has previously been named Attitude magazine’s “Woman of the Year” and fronted an advertising campaign for Tampax - no doubt very handsomely paid for that work. The casting places Mulvaney - a man who claims to be a woman - in a production that has long marketed itself as a female-centred retelling of women’s history, told through a modern pop-concert format. “YAY BROADWAY,” Mulvaney wrote on Instagram, confirming the news. “So happy my bway debut is playing a fellow polarising woman in this perfect musical next month.” Except he isn’t a woman. And apparently it’s no longer enough to take women’s awards, titles and lucrative advertising contracts. Now it’s women’s roles on Broadway too - at a time when many talented actresses are out of work and struggling to get cast. Back in 2023, Mulvaney partnered with Bud Light on a “365 Days of Womanhood” campaign. The backlash was swift - and was followed by a reported ~15% drop in sales. A cautionary tale about confusing social-media applause with real-world approval. Let’s hope theatre-goers vote with their feet in the same way Bud Light customers did - and give Six a miss until it’s all-female again.

Today, the Iranian regime confirmed the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a mother, a labor activist, and a defender of women’s rights. Her only act was standing up for justice and dignity. Now she faces execution, leaving behind a young child who may never again feel her embrace. This is not just an attack on one woman, it is an attack on every mother who dares to dream of a better life for her children. When injustice threatens the most vulnerable among us, our silence becomes consent. We must raise our voices for Sharifeh, because her fight is the fight of us all. #SharifehMohammadi
