Why is Jesus never mentioned anywhere outside of the Bible?

@MisterMaleficus @Miguelchenko @EvidenceOfFaith @AtheistTakes There's really nothing that anyone wrote down that survives from that period. We know there were several churches around the Mediterranean and archaeology exists of them as well as Paul's letters, which you will no doubt not accept

@mic52262 @Miguelchenko @EvidenceOfFaith @AtheistTakes How many rose to become a god? And no one who saw him wrote something down? No one recorded the words of the people who saw him? Nothing for 30-40 years. It's really unlikely. We may never know. There was probably a person behind the myth but thats all.

@MisterMaleficus @TJPander @AtheistTakes The writings of Josephus, which Christians always refer to, were written in 4th century Greek. Tacitus probably got his information from his friend Pliny the Elder, who wrote about Christians in 113. The myth had already been born by then.

@atmoore68 @BladeoftheS @DrLearnALot I get your point. You need to read some history. Capitalism isn't a aberration. As soon as man invented boots he started devising ways to put it on another mans throat.

Capital Investment is not a crime. It is the system which has produced the wealth and condition we live in today, it evolved out of an industrial revolution. Your fantasy that ancient Greece was fair or democratic or egalitarian or just is ignorant bollox. It was a feudal slave owning society. The state can organize social programmes health care transport social welfare etc that is it's best limited social function. The rest within limits the freedom for man to develop invent invest and organize as he an individual thinks best. Pragmatism which both the CPC China and CPV Vietnam have implemented. Prior to that they were stagnant state economies.

@TJPander @AtheistTakes Philo is the only one who lived within the period. Philo never mentioned jesus. He was a jewish philosopher who wrote about the word of god or Logos. I know I've read his work. The rest were relating stories they heard and there questions with the validity of them as sources.

The Pilate stone proves he existed and was governor over judea, and precisely at the time in judea that the NT records he did; Josephus, Philo, and later Tacitus all confirm that he condemned Jesus to death. Pretty boilerplate textual criticism if you’re an actual historian and not a YouTube “historian” (bunny ears intentional) I’d expect you would understand that. Pliny the younger also records the same and confirms Jesus directly, including the supernatural events of the crucifixion.

Lol. The Roman's kept records for tax purposes. Historically Jesus is recorded by ROMANS. 😂 Nevermind the Gospels, you're right they came after He died. But the Roman's kept meticulous records, and for crucifixions, even more so. The evidence is ther, you just refuse to accept it. Kinda like someone known as Thomas the Twin 😂
