AI does not give you a proper decomp, usually because someone who’s relying on AI doesn’t have the know-how to ensure what they’re doing is correct. That’s the fundamental of my argument

@Mistiff_1 @VoidNothin253 @MorsGames Kaze isnt really a good example though. Kaze spent well over a decade picking apart and discussing the same singular game. That just straight up is not realistic. You cant expect Kaze level hyperfixation out of normal people. Thats just straight up asking the impossible.

@Mistiff_1 @VoidNothin253 @MorsGames Not really. Mario 64 on Ultrawide with modern controls trying to get it working with no major bugs was complete dogshit. It just looked and felt bad a lot of the time. And theres no way in hell youd get an n64 emulator running on half the stuff people have ported these games to.

@Mistiff_1 @VoidNothin253 @MorsGames It doesnt defeat the purpose. Sometimes a guy just wants to play Mario 64 in ultrawide aspect ratio or to run through Majoras Mask on a vita for fun. Those are amazing human made examples, but like those are extremely popular well documented games that took many years.

@z0mbykidd2 @VoidNothin253 @MorsGames Fine to play, but still defeats the point of decompiling it in the first place. If you want to play with an upscaled resolution and widescreen UI fixes, emulators have been able to hack that in for a long time

@Mistiff_1 @VoidNothin253 @MorsGames Im not no expert on them. Im just someone whos played quite a few of them including ones that have publicly used AI. A lot of them have been good enough to modern standards. I have the real hardware in many cases if I wanted a 1:1 experience. A port that gets close is fine.

@Mistiff_1 @VoidNothin253 @MorsGames That doesn't really change anything? Multiple things can have the same purpose. I promise you the majority of people running Ship of Harkinian and Unleashed recomp are just running the base game with next to no modifications besides like maybe some ui fixes.

@VoidNothin253 @MorsGames That is by far the thing people actually care about for them 99% of the time though. For the grand majority of people they just want to be able to play games from their childhood on newer or novel systems. A lot of the ones using AI are not popular enough to get one without it.
