- most people don’t get rejected from high-value opportunities because they lack brilliance. they get rejected because they don’t know how to frame it. i think of my narrative as a movie that must have an engaging arc. - being impressive is not about saying a lot. if it’s not essential, memorable, or tied to your narrative, remove it. I didn’t overload my submission; we had a 1k word cap, so every line was essential. - choose your strongest proof points. three sharp, undeniable achievements are more potent than twelve vague ones. high-value rooms reward precision, not noise. - impact is not just what you did. it is what happened because you did it. numbers speak louder than adjectives. replace “i had a huge impact” with “my work has done x number of x in x regions.” numbers anchor your brilliance in reality. - speak like a leader, not a participant. use language like: I built. I led. I created. I shaped. the funny thing is, this wasn’t even the voting award (that was my other nomination). this one required a submission judged against set criteria by an independent panel. i competed against major institutions and won, with judges describing my submission as outstanding.
