Surveys with 2,229 Syrians returning from abroad - mainly Türkiye (56%), Lebanon (30%) & Jordan (9%).   89% said return was completely their decision. 25% also cited difficulties in host country: discrimination, lack of prospects, insecurity, violations & abuse. Millions have been returning to their homes in Syria since the fall of Assad. We surveyed 3803 Syria returnees (from abroad and IDPs) (Nov-Dec 2025).   Over 90% said they plan to stay, but economic integration is dire. Only 8% received any assistance for return. As #IMRF2026 policy debate opens now in NY: are GCM commitments translating into reality for people on the move? Our 2025 4Mi data from 4,118 respondents across three Mediterranean routes shows that: ➡️Repression, deterrence and restrictions enforcement are pervasive. ➡️Exploitation and abuse are widespread. ➡️Legal pathways are largely inaccessible. The gap between commitment and practice is not rhetorical — it is measurable.
