A shepherd boy in rural South Africa kept losing his hearing to ear infections. Sitting in his first classroom—which was under a tree—he would miss whole sentences. He felt isolated, rejected, and cut off from the world. Decades later, that same boy became the first surgeon in history to cure deafness. Meet Prof. Mashudu Tshifularo. His journey was anything but easy. He traveled two days on a third-class train just to get to medical school, qualifying as a doctor at only 22. But he never forgot the profound loneliness of a silent world. That memory drove him to dedicate his life to ear surgery. After a decade of relentless research, Prof. Tshifularo and his team at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria did the impossible: they successfully restored hearing using 3D-printed titanium ear bones. The three smallest bones in the human body—the hammer, anvil, and stirrup—are together smaller than a single grain of rice. When 40-year-old Thabo Moshiliwa shattered his in a car crash, Tshifularo’s team scanned the fragments, printed perfectly matching titanium replicas, and implanted them endoscopically. No drilling through the skull. No risk of paralyzing the facial nerve. The entire procedure took under two hours. Two weeks later, the bandages came off. Thabo could hear again. Seven years later, he still can. He did it again for Simon Bohale, a 62-year-old welder who had suffered through two previous failed surgeries. Today, Simon hears too. Right now, 430 million people worldwide suffer from disabling hearing loss. But a massive breakthrough is on the horizon. It was just announced that 45 new patients have been selected for the first formal clinical trial starting in June 2026. The hospital's phones are ringing off the hook with desperate calls from Colombia, India, the US, and the UK. 25 years of dedication. From a little boy who couldn't hear the world, to a visionary surgeon making sure the world can hear again. 🌍👂✨ #MashuduTshifularo #MedicalMarvel #3DPrinting #HearingLoss #SouthAfrica #Inspiration #GoodNews #ScienceDaily #MedicalHistory #Innovator

TikTok is quietly disqualifying original creators from the Creator Rewards Program for "unoriginal content" they actually created themselves. The receipts are loud. The platform is silent. Here is what is happening.
