Applied for a Canadian visa to go see my sister and her baby (whom I am yet to meet) and got denied on the basis that the visa officer isn’t convinced that I, an NHS doctor, will leave Canada if granted entry.
All this as the one year anniversary of our mum’s death draws closer.

If your sister is a permanent resident or citizen, she can write to her MP to lodge a complaint and do some guilt tripping. You’d have to apply again but I’m sure you’d get it this time.
