@ukhomeoffice This is complete nonsense. Migrants applying for visas fund the system through visa fees and NHS surcharges, all while being barred from accessing public benefits. The dishonesty here is staggering.
The British public has footed the bill for an immigration system that feels out of control and unfair.
We’re stopping this.
It is only fair that migrants with an income or sizeable assets will have to contribute to the cost of their stay, not the taxpayer.
@Keir_Starmer Spineless. A flagrant violation of international law, indistinguishable from Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Except Keir Starmer is choosing silence.
The UK has long supported a transition of power in Venezuela. We regarded Maduro as an illegitimate President and we shed no tears about the end of his regime.
I reiterated my support for international law this morning. The UK government will discuss the evolving situation with US counterparts in the days ahead as we seek a safe and peaceful transition to a legitimate government that reflects the will of the Venezuelan people.
I don’t care if your home is worth £2m. Well done to you.
You’ve worked hard to buy it, using money you’ve already been taxed on, and you’ve also paid stamp duty to buy it.
For a govt to then say they deserve *more* money, literally for *nothing* every month due to its value is so obscene.
It’s everything wrong with the direction this country is heading- full
of envy, spite, and the penalising of hard work.
@narindertweets@SN1ven This is really not sensible. Do you think it’s easy running multiple care homes? Just because your parents did not scale up their business doesn’t mean others who take that risk should be punished for doing so. We need to encourage productivity in the UK. Not discourage it.
@SN1ven My family ran a corner shop for 50yrs..think my mum and dad ahd ONE holiday in that time.
Brother had about 3.
We worked 16 hrs days.
You're welcome
I know a couple who have numerous care homes and nurseries..they drive a porch, a range rover, have several homes, numerous holidays a year and kids in private school.
They are currently in a panic over minimum wages being increased because their businesses will suffer.
People like this genuinely need to FCK THE RIGHT OFF.
🚨 Islington Council sent bailiffs to evict a man with incurable cancer. He was turfed onto the streets with just the clothes on his back and his crutches.
They then disposed of his belongings including medication.
He told me he has to wash in McDonald’s toilets and sleep on night buses whilst having chemotherapy.
Prince Andrew is now going to be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, after a statement from Buckingham Palace says he will lose his title.
Andrew will also surrender the lease of his Royal Lodge.
'If they had any sense after this scandal, they would simply abdicate,' says Will Lloyd.
He suggests in the New Statesman magazine that the issue with the royal family goes further than Prince Andrew - and we should abolish the monarchy altogether.
@RoyalFamily The Catholic Church has a long history of concealing child abuse allegations. Through Andrew, the Royal Family carries its own shadow. The optics of this trip are hard to ignore.
The King joined trainee priests, British nationals working in the Vatican and Commonwealth Ambassadors to the Holy See for a special reception in the Pontificial Beda College gardens, following yesterday’s ecumenical services.
🍊His Majesty also watered an orange tree planted in the gardens to commemorate the State Visit.
I recently spoke with someone buying a house with her partner.
She told me that she had to pay just to verify who she was.
With digital ID that could be done in seconds and wipe out the costs.
Digital ID will save you time and money.
It’s frustrating having to rummage around in a drawer, looking for an old electricity bill just to open a new bank account.
Digital ID will make our lives easier.
The King and Queen have arrived in Italy ahead of their historic visit to the Vatican. Charles will become the first British monarch to pray at a public service with the Pope since the Reformation.
It comes as the focus on Prince Andrew's living arrangements continued with the Prime Minister saying there should be "proper scrutiny" of his rent-free mansion.
@NityaGRajan reports.
We need to get to the bottom over Prince Andrew's use of Royal Lodge at taxpayers' expense. He should come before a parliamentary committee and answer questions.
@Keir_Starmer Renewal means accountability for victims of Prince Andrew and Jeffery Epstein. And an investigation into whether @RoyalFamily concealed the truth from the public.
'This line from Buckingham Palace that the King doesn't want to take up Parliament's time is a smokescreen'
