Our new water table has been assembled and is ready for the hot weather this week. We are looking forward to greeting our youngest learners tomorrow! @alcdsb_olmc
I am not sure who was more excited today, the kids or the grownups! After consulting an “expert,” it turns out that our froglets are toads. Let the learning (and habitat changeover) begin! @alcdsb_olmc
This tadpole inquiry has brought us so many wonderful surprises and rich learning opportunities. Not only are we watching as our tadpoles change, but have also discovered a nematode, mayfly nymphs, and even hatched mayflies! @alcdsb_olmc
Reminder: Kindergarten registration for @alcdsb_olmc is open!! Come join us on your learning journey! Check out what we have been up to this year with @MmeJulieBell@Mme_Roberts , @LeanneMcGuinne4 , & myself! 🌈 🦋 💌🫧🎲
We love using games to differentiate our literacy small groups. Students love practicing code sounds, heart words, decodable words, and sentences through play. @alcdsb_olmc
For Catholic Education Week and Mental Health week, we talked about what superpowers God gave us. Each student chose a power that they have, and made a cape. Self-regulation, persistence, imagination, and empathy are just a few of our powers. #ALCDSBCEW#ALCDSBMHW@alcdsb_olmc
When bugs frighten us, we do some research and become experts! Today we learned all about midges (not mayflies). We learned that they have the same lifecycle as our bees, that males have feathered antenna, and most importantly, that they can’t hurt us! @alcdsb_olmc
When students show an interest in bees, you “fly with it!” We are learning so much about pollination, the importance of bees, and what we can do to save the bees. @alcdsb_olmc
During outdoor play, one of the Kinders noticed “Mme there is so much garbage! Can we clean it up?” Soon there was a group of 8 cleaning the yard together. @alcdsb_olmc
When a leprechaun plays tricks on the class and leaves a message (that we could read independently) what do we do? Try to trap him of course! @alcdsb_olmc
During open exploration time, our students are always asking to write books and share them with the class. We are so proud of how independent and creative our Kinders are with their writing! @alcdsb_olmc
We are so proud how our students used their umbrella skill of resilience today when our field trip was canceled. An impromptu PJ day, Cheerio bird feeders, animal hide and seek, and painting on snow helped to make what started as a disappointing morning better! @alcdsb_olmc
