Iran entered the new year with its people cut off from the world for over 500 hours without internet. No connection, no access to information and no voice. Access to information is a basic human right not a privilege. #DigitalBlackoutIran
NetBlocks@netblocks

⚠️ Update: Three full weeks have passed since #Iran's internet blackout came into effect, with users forced onto the National Information Network. At hour 504, few circumvention tools work as authorities crack down on satellite and VPN users outside the state-approved whitelist.

Today is my first day as senior lecturer and deputy director of the Institute for Social Change (@ISC_UTAS) at the University of Tasmania. Very excited to be working on 'The Good Life' project, which will explore ways of making wellbeing public policy a reality.

Which countries are ahead when it comes to integrating #wellbeing into policy? Here is a nice word cloud based on a poll from this #BeyondGDP I'm watching - New Zealand are storming it.

Trying to stay calm, but I'm 7 days away from not being able to work in the US. I'm a tenured professor at a major university and the US government is pushing me over the brink. Been waiting for 3 mo (instead of 2d) for the US govt to *print* my already approved work permit.

Hey fellow profs of #AcademicTwitter and #EconTwitter: Please stop scrolling and write to your chair/dean/prez/whoever is your boss and ask what *you* and *they* can do to counter this madness! No “thoughts and prayers”!! Let’s get on it.

This is bad. ICE just told students here on student visas that if their school is going online-only this fall, the students must depart the United States and cannot remain through the fall semester. ice.gov/news/releases/…

My favourite paper from my PhD is now published in the Journal of Happiness Studies. Yes, my PhD was in economics. doi: /10.1007/s10902-019-00141-7.

I was informed yesterday afternoon that I've been granted tenure and will be promoted to Associate Professor @WakeForest . It's been quite a journey, filled with highs, lows, a fair bit of stress and some very tough decisions. It's a tremendous honor and privilege.

@jonathaneyer AgEcon programs support some good policy evaluation studies in agriculture and if he changed his mind along the way, AgEcon departments are so multidisciplinary that can offer good alternative field of studies within the same department.

I received an email from a student interested in an MPP focused on domestic ag policy (not ag econ). What are the best terminal programs for him?
