Dear X Family, PLEASE SHARE for the beagles still trapped inside Ridglan Farms!❤️ In this clip from the Ridglan Farms open rescue on March 15, 2026, a sheriff’s deputy appears to gesture toward her firearm while confronting rescuers carrying a beagle. What follows is even more disturbing. This terrified puppy was dragged from the back of a rescue van by police and returned to Ridglan Farms, despite a judicial order indicating this beagle was a victim of criminal abuse. At any moment, they could face further suffering in an experiment or surgical procedure. These actions raise serious legal and ethical concerns. Even if authorities considered this beagle “property” in a theft case, law enforcement is required to preserve potential evidence of a crime. Returning this beagle to the very place where abuse is alleged to have occurred raises urgent questions that demand accountability. As difficult as it is to watch this moment, there is another side to the story. While attention was focused here, other rescuers were able to leave the property with beagles who made it to safety. This unnamed beagle’s moment became a turning point. In a very real way, their apprehension created a critical distraction, allowing other vans carrying beagles to reach freedom. We need public pressure now. Contact the Dane County District Attorney and Sheriff and urge them to return this beagle and the other seven who were apprehended to rescuers or an appropriate rescue organization. You can say: “Dogs facing criminal abuse at Ridglan Farms were illegally seized by police from rescuers and returned to their abusers. Do the right thing and rescue the dogs!” Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne (608) 266-4211 ismael.ozanne@da.wi.gov danecoda@da.wi.gov Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett (608) 284-6800 (Press 8 for complaints) barrett@danesheriff.com Please Follow our biggest advocates for these beagles and all animals on our planet❤️ @InvestigateEar1 @The_BarbiTwins @KatieHeigl @mirandalambert @Sia @JaneGoodallInst @jes_chastain @kcorvo2 @Lady_Astor @DeannaHershber3 @PhaedraXTeddy @amazingraceart @lisachristinect @CaribbeanRythms @venetianblonde

23 beagles from the Ridglan Farms open rescue are safe and under veterinary care. As of now, formal charges and court proceedings related to Wayne Hsiung’s open rescue have not been announced. After his release, Wayne Hsiung told supporters that the effort to rescue beagles is ongoing, noting that eight dogs still need to be recovered and thousands more remain in need. He described the recent rescue as just the beginning. Hsiung pointed to future campaigns, including targeting larger facilities such as Marshall BioResources in New York. Here is Wayne Hsiung’s statement after his release from jail: “Remember we have 8 beagles we need to get back, and 2000 more in next weeks we need to get free. This battle has just begun. This court case will give us opportunity to amplify our story. We need all of you to be part of it. I’m so honored that you’re all working with us to free those 22… 22? (crowd responds with “23”) It keeps going up and down. It’s amazing. (crowd laughs) 23 beagles, but there’s thousands more that need our help. If we win this fight, there’s even bigger projects we can work on together, including MBR in New York, which has 23,000 beagles.” Marshall BioResources (MBR) in New York is a large commercial animal breeding company that supplies beagles, as well as cats and pigs to laboratories for biomedical research, pharmaceutical testing, and toxicology studies. The last documented count of beagles inside MBR by USDA was just over 26,000. Its main U.S. facility is located in North Rose, New York, and it is one of the largest Class A licensed breeders under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). MBR breeds dogs specifically for use in research settings, where they may be used in studies ranging from drug development to safety testing. Over the past three years our nonprofit, Beagle Lovers and Rescuers Inc has been actively involved in raising awareness about Marshall BioResources (MBR), one of the largest breeders of beagles for laboratory testing. The nonprofit has supported national and international advocacy efforts through public education campaigns, social media outreach, and collaboration with other animal welfare organizations. Their work has included amplifying investigative findings, promoting protests and demonstrations, and encouraging public pressure on policymakers and institutions connected to MBR. Through these efforts, the group has helped bring increased visibility to the scale of beagle breeding for research and the broader movement to end animal testing.

22 beagles from Ridglan Farms are safe and receiving care. Eight were recovered by the Dane County Sheriff’s Department, and reports suggest they may have been returned to Ridglan Farms, though this has not been officially confirmed. Here is a summary of what happened and what may transpire next. Ridglan Farms has operated since the 1960s and has long been one of the largest commercial breeders of beagles used in biomedical research in the United States. For years, the facility has faced protests, regulatory scrutiny, and ongoing criticism from animal advocacy groups opposed to the breeding of dogs for laboratory experimentation. On Sunday, March 15, at approximately 8:30 a.m. CST, Wayne Hsiung of The Simple Heart and co-founder of Direct Action Everywhere led volunteers in a nonviolent open rescue of beagles from inside Ridglan Farms. Before entering the property, the rescuers notified the Dane County Sheriff’s Office that the open rescue was about to take place. This was done to ensure full transparency, to avoid any perception of concealment, and to make clear that their actions were motivated by concern for the animals rather than criminal intent. According to authorities, some individuals entered secured areas of the facility and began removing dogs. Law enforcement responded shortly after, and approximately 20 people were taken into custody at the scene. Those arrested included Wayne Hsiung, 44, of New York; Aditya V. Aswani, 29, of Brooklyn, New York; and Dean F. Wyrzykowski, 29, of San Francisco, California. Aswani was booked into the Dane County Jail on a tentative burglary charge, while Hsiung and Wyrzykowski were booked on tentative criminal trespass charges. Officials noted that those detained were cooperative during the arrests. In a public statement, Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett acknowledged the strong emotions surrounding the treatment of beagles at the facility while emphasizing the department’s responsibility to enforce the law. He stated that while peaceful protest is respected, law enforcement must respond when unlawful activity occurs. Barrett also encouraged those concerned about animal welfare to pursue lawful and constructive channels for advocacy, adding that the Sheriff’s Office remains focused on public safety and ensuring all parties can exercise their rights within legal boundaries. Release of Arrested Activists After Ridglan Farms Rescue On March 17, 2026, individuals arrested during the March 15 open rescue were released from the Dane County Jail following processing and an initial review of charges. Approximately 20 activists had been taken into custody, facing tentative charges including criminal trespass and, in at least one case, burglary. As is typical in nonviolent protest-related cases, those detained were released pending further legal proceedings, often under conditions such as signature bonds and agreements to appear in court at a later date. Supporters gathered outside the jail as activists were released, greeting them with visible emotion, solidarity, and growing media attention. Following his release, Wayne Hsiung stated that he plans to return to Ridglan Farms to rescue the remaining beagles still inside. Prosecutors are expected to review the evidence before determining whether to file formal charges. Advocates view this moment as both a continuation of their efforts and a renewed opportunity to bring public attention to the treatment of beagles at Ridglan Farms. What Lies Ahead for Ridglan Farms After Its License Ends in 2026? Ridglan Farms will lose its Wisconsin Dog Breeder License, issued by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), on July 1, 2026. This license is required for facilities that commercially breed and sell dogs, including supplying beagles to laboratories and research institutions. Once the license is revoked, Ridglan Farms will no longer be legally permitted to breed or sell beagles in Wisconsin. However, the loss of this license does not require the facility to shut down entirely, nor does it prohibit the continued housing or use of animals for research under other regulatory frameworks, including federal oversight. As a result, the facility is expected to continue operating, potentially shifting its focus away from breeding and sales toward in-house or contract research involving beagles.

Dear X Family, PLEASE SHARE This is video footage taken this morning 3/15/26 of a nonviolent open rescue of beagles inside Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds, WI 53517. This video was created by Direct Action Everywhere Please follow and support @DxEverywhere and @waynehhsiung for their bravery. Ridglan Farms is a commercial breeding facility founded in the 1960s that raises beagles specifically for laboratory research, supplying dogs to universities, pharmaceutical companies, and contract research organizations for biomedical and toxicology testing. The facility has faced ongoing controversy and regulatory scrutiny over the years, including inspection reports from the United States Department of Agriculture documenting animal welfare violations, concerns about veterinary care, and poor conditions in some kennel areas. Animal advocates and investigators have also alleged evidence of painful procedures and surgeries performed without adequate anesthesia, along with overcrowded or unsanitary cage conditions, which fueled public outrage and calls for accountability. Because beagles bred for research often spend their lives confined in kennel environments and are ultimately used in experiments, some activists have carried out actions known as “open rescues,” publicly removing animals they believe are suffering in order to document conditions, bring attention to the treatment of laboratory animals, and place the dogs into veterinary care and sanctuary while advocating for alternatives to animal testing. I’m just a number. And soon, I’ll be nothing at all. I don’t know the world outside these walls. It’s all I’ve ever known. I do remember my mother. She was warm. She smelled safe. They took her away before I had time to understand what love was. I’ve heard whispers about grass. About wind. About running. In my dreams, I feel it, my ears flying and the sun on my back. But I always wake up to the same cold cage. Some leave and never come back the same. I hear the word “lab.” I don’t know what it means. I only know there are no toys here. No soft beds. No gentle hands. Just waiting. I don’t know what I did wrong. I just want to feel the sun. I just want to belong to someone. But here, I’m only a number. Beagles like me are still being bred and sold exclusively to testing labs, even though science has advanced beyond this. More reliable and cruelty free methods already exist, including organ on chip technology and lab grown organoids that better replicate human biology. So why has the industry not fully transitioned? There is limited pressure on large pharmaceutical and consumer chemical companies to require modernization from the testing facilities they rely on. The most notable policy shift so far has come through the FDA Modernization Act 3.0, which will stop requiring animal testing by 2036, but it does not ban it. That means laboratories may still legally continue using animals after 2036 if they choose. In many cases, long established systems and regulatory habits make it easier to continue doing tests the same way they have been done for decades rather than investing in and validating newer methods. Until meaningful change is demanded, cages like mine remain full. Our nonprofit, Beagle Lovers And Rescuers Inc. (BLR), has focused much of its advocacy on Marshall BioResources in New York, the largest of the three major beagle breeding facilities supplying laboratories. The facility is heavily secured and largely hidden from public view. BLR has engaged in peaceful on-site advocacy, supported whistleblower efforts, conducted investigations, filed FOIA requests, and met with legislators to advocate for greater transparency and the modernization of testing practices. As a small nonprofit, BLR relies entirely on donations to sustain its investigative work, transparency initiatives, and advocacy efforts aimed at protecting beagles and promoting humane, science-based alternatives. If you would like to support our mission, you'll find donation link in my X profile. Thank you! ❤️

Dear X Family — I am in shock. This was recorded 16 hours ago. PLEASE SHARE. Rochester, NY and surrounding communities — we need you this Thursday at 6 PM to speak up for the dogs at Verona Street. On February 9, 2026, a dog froze to death outside at this same residence. A 267-page lawsuit was filed on February 9, 2026, against the City of Rochester Police Department (RPD), alleging that they have failed to enforce animal cruelty laws, effectively allowing abusers to keep dogs in dangerous conditions. Animal advocates claim that for years, police have neglected to properly investigate reports of neglected or abused animals, sometimes leaving them with owners despite evidence of abuse, such as dogs being kept outside in sub-zero temperatures. Join everyone at City Hall and demand real oversight, real transparency, and real change. 📍 30 Church St – Rochester City Hall 🕕 6 PM 📞 Call 585-428-7538 to register to speak If you believe animals deserve protection, not neglect — show up.
