אני חייב לכתוב משהו על לוגיסטיקה: תראו, אפשר הכל. אפשר להוביל ברכב, במשאית, במטוס- אפשר לעקוף מפה ומשם ולבנות רכבת וצנרת והכל. אפשר הכל! בני האדם שעסקו במסחר משחר ההובלה הימית הבינו די מהר משוואה מאד פשוטה- המטרה היא להעביר מנקודה אחת לשניה כמה שיותר סחורה בבת אחת. פשוט. זה הכי מהיר והכי זול, לכן כל המסחר על פני כדור הארץ נע קודם כל בים בכמויות גדולות ואז מתחלק לכמויות קטנות בנמלים. עכשיו כלל פשוט- בכל פעם שתגעו בסחורה לפני ההגעה שלה ליעד הסופי- היא תתייקר. תפרקו, תבדקו, תעצרו אותה- יעלה לכם- גם זמן וגם כסף והמטרה שלכם לשמור על מחיר לוגיסטי נמוך כי בו אתם לא שולטים. אפשר לשלוט במחיר המוצר ובהפצה שלו ובעוד מאה דברים- אבל הלוגיסטיקה לא בשליטתכם- אתם תלויים בכוחות גדולים שנעים בים, באוויר וביבשה. הפתרונות להורמוז הם מהממים ויפים אבל הם לעולם! לעולם! יהיו יקרים יותר, איטיים יותר ומסובכים יותר: -משאיות, רכבות, צנרת- כלום הוא לא תחליף להעמסה ישירה בנמל- מיכל-למיכלית. -משאיות ורכבות תפקידם פיזור סחורה- לא הובלת סחורה. -אוניות זה מאקרו- משאיות ורכבות זה מיקרו. המאקרו הוא בעיה אחת עם פתרון אחד, המיקרו הוא אינספור בעיות עם אינספור תקלות שכולן יקרות מאד אם משהו התפקשש. -אוניות זה זול ויעיל, רכבות ומשאיות זה מסורבל ויקר ודורש תשתית והמון כח אדם יקר. זהו. אלו הם הכללים. מעתה תיגשו ככה לכל כתבה המבשרת על עקיפת הורמוז בצלחת מעופפת או בשטות אחרת.

Mehdi, can we just please put the partisan games away for one second and realize we need members of both sides to fight this fight? I’m genuinely asking politely and sincerely. He’s constantly under fire for exposing the truth about our relationship with Israel. You don’t have to sleep with him. You don’t have to love him or even like him. But please don’t join forces with Zionists to bury him on this issue. He’s right on Israel. We should encourage that.

After my parents fled the Islamic Regime in 1979, they found safe haven in Queens, New York. That’s where I was born. In a tiny apartment in Queens. My parents had nothing. Not money. Not connections. Not even the ability to speak English. Unlike Zohran Mamdani, I didn’t go to a fancy private school. I went to a NYC public school that was so crowded there weren’t enough desks for each student. Half the time I sat on the radiator in the back of the room and took notes on my lap. I rode the MTA bus home, while both my parents worked to put food on the table and rebuild their lives. And they did rebuild. Because in America, and only in America, capitalism gave them a real chance to start again. The people supporting Mamdani are just like him. A bunch of entitled rich kids who have no clue how lucky they are, and even less of a clue why they have been conditioned to hate America. They don’t know what it’s like to buy shoes two sizes too big so you don’t outgrow them before the end of the school year. To act as the translator for your parents at 6 years old. To claw your way from having nothing to achieving something. And today they celebrate, because they’re too dumb or radicalized or both to realize they’re falling for the same Islamist-Marxist lies that caused my parents to flee Iran in the first place. All to destroy a city that was once a hopeful refuge for millions of people who just wanted a better life. People like me and my family. What a sad, sad day. My heart is absolutely broken for NYC.

I'm contemplating the images of an Israeli beating up a nun in Jerusalem, all the kids spitting at Christians, etc. I may be naive, but I literally can't imagine Israelis acting like this even twenty years ago. Certainly not fifty years ago. Is it really a new phenomenon?
