Please note that the possibility of the inclement weather conditions could affect our response time to outages. Therefore repairs and restorations may be delayed.
Central Substation Substation, Feederboard No1B & 4A: Significant damage has been identified at the substation, where key equipment, including the feederboard 11kV incomer breakers and panels, were severely burned. Service providers are currently onsite conducting preparatory work, including stripping damaged panels and rerouting cables to support restoration efforts.
The dry-ice team is also onsite and will commence cleaning of the affected panels once preparations have been completed. In addition, feederboard 1A will be isolated tomorrow to allow for further cleaning and removal of carbon buildup.
As part of interim restoration measures, the team is reconfiguring the network to restore supply to critical areas. An attempt will be made this evening to restore Feederboard 4A, which will assist in restoring the power supply to customers in areas including Standard Bank, Carlton Centre, Selby Substation, and surrounding areas.
Customers in parts of Marshalltown, Droste Park, Doornfontein, Selby as well as possible surroundings will continue experiencing an outage until the full supply of power has been fully restored.
More updates will be communicated as new information becomes available.

Central Substation - Feederboard 1 & 2: The smoke in the tunnels has subsided and upon assessment, it was discovered that the smoke was due to attempted cable theft. The affected areas include Selby, Salisbury Claims, Wemmer, Marshalltown, Carlton Centre, Droste Park, Doornfontein and surroundings. We are currently arranging a contractor to conduct repairs and possible replacement of damaged cables and equipment.
We will keep customers updated on developments.

Soccer City Switching Station, Tower Distributor: Power supply has been partially restored and is currently at 90% following a cable fault.

Central Substation
Following a thorough investigation in the tunnels at the substation this morning, the team discovered that the outage reported yesterday was a result of theft of cables and electrical components. The outage is affecting customers at Carlton Centre, Marshalltown, Selby West, Selby East, Selby Central, and surroundings.
The process of sourcing replacement material will resume today, and the estimated time of restoration will be communicated once the required material is delivered on-site.
Developments will be communicated in later reports.
