Yesterday, 22 NC school districts canceled classes because their teachers went to Raleigh to protest for higher pay. Many of them got a paid day off. Meanwhile, parents—the people who actually have to show up to work to make money to feed their young'uns and have little to no benefits—had to take the day off because schools were closed. Average NC teacher salary: $50,000. Average NC resident salary: $41,000. Someone please explain to me why NC teachers think they should be making more than the people whose taxes fund them?
