I wanna big up Battle Mania Daiginjou because the game is utterly fucking rad. One of the coolest shmups on the Genesis that didn't deserve the limited print run it had. Polished, goofy, fun, and a kickass soundtrack. Plus, it has Mania Ohtorii, the best girl in gaming.

@Punishere1_ @KiingStarscream That's not a good foundation to build any consumer base on, and that's part of the reason why people don't take DoA seriously as a series. Visual appeal is how you draw people in, but flashy style, accessible gameplay, and cool violence is how you keep them.

Here is my list of what I believe #DOA7 should have and not have to be successful. 🤝🏾 • Rollback • Diverse tech. No systems such as "bound" that limits possibilities and creativity. • In game skins, rewards, in game currency purpose, collectible nostalgic items. This generates a interest into the lore and attachment to the characters and game. • Interactive lobby system like DOA4. Encourage community engagement. • Cross-platform. Its 2026 there is no reason we can not do this. DOA negative reputation in the FGC needs this to reach a higher player base and interest. • Online Training mode. Further encourages community engagement and reach. • Revert to less dramatic stage transitions. Past DOAs did this better. DOA6 dolphin dives, Trex impact, etc was a bit much. •Keep the women hot. Focus on "cool" skins. Sexy is still ok but you must balance. It can not be all sexualize or overwhelming sexual or you become that as a product. • Online lobbies at launch, Rank at launch. @denshibuto @KiingStarscream Is that why DoA6 is on life support and DoA5 is mostly dead? Sexy girls are important, but they are not first and foremost, and that attitude is part of the reason why DoA has a hard time establishing itself. Balanced gameplay, violence, and coolness are just as important as sexy

@MoguralianB @KiingStarscream You are not taking into consideration its been 20 years since he left Tecmo and the fanservice became a stronger element over time. Products change to keep people happy. That's why DOAXVV is a big success and DOA6 is a huge failure. No bigger indicator than that.

@NSilverwind @KiingStarscream Senran Kagura is a different series, as is Xtreme. Those two are much closer to each other than mainline DoA is to either, which is the point I'm trying to make. DoA was always meant to be more restrained than Xtreme, if only by a touch.

@Chocobo666 @SomeRandomSlavX @KiingStarscream I will gladly admit to being very much a Johnny-come-lately, I'm very much green. I got a few friends that are into DoA though, and their stance is very similar. Sex appeal is essential, but a little bit of tasteful restraint is important.

@SeanChaney7 @KiingStarscream DoA always seemed way out of place in Senran Kagura. SK is way more vouyeristic, DoA seemed to want to carry itself with at least a little bit more class. Maybe it's a taste thing, but it's also hard to imagine Senran Kagura being anywhere near A Playboy mag, for example

We'll never know for sure now that he's gone, but it's clear he wanted DoA somewhere below Xtreme on the perv scale.

But knowing what I know about DoA, Itagaki, and how he felt about the franchise, it's pretty clear he always intended DoA to be more on the cool and edgy side of Sexy.
