Lab geek and hermit. I block anti-vaccine and medical misinformation on sight. Animal rescue is the only reason I'm still on here. (He/Him)

I am glad I started the discussion.

🆘🆘 POPCORN SHRIMP (ID 24606), 3 YO, MALE– IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as a stray on 2/28/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 3/28/26 ➡️ NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE ONLY ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 7th Chance on Emergency Placement List – ON BORROWED TIME – SHELTER AT CAPACITY- NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT/HELP POPCORN SHRIMP - HIGHEST EU/SILENT KILL RISK –🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 27 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ POPCORN SHRIMP IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -He is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. He is now displaying signs of defensive aggression. “DETERIORATING IN THE ADOPTIONS ROOM” often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 JENNIE (ID 247814), 2 YO, MALE– IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an aco - owner surrender on 2/18/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- eviction. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 3/28/26 ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 6th Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY RARE – SHELTER AT CAPACITY - COULD BE LAST CALL FOR JENNIE - VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK– 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 37 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ JENNIE IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is an under socialized adult cat, not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I have lived with cats in my previous home. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. Jennie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 CHANEL (ID 246852), 1 YO, FEMALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 2/14/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior - aggressive towards people. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 3/28/26 ➡️ JUST A BABY ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️ 🆘🆘 2ND Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 41 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ CHANEL IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display challenging behavior during interactions. She is extremely intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for her mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Chanel came to us with a "label" but she's been busy proving everyone wrong. When she first arrived at the shelter, the little tuxedo girl was all prickles and attitude, keeping everyone at arm's length. But give her time, and Chanel reveals her true self: a sweet, curious cat who actually loves attention and petting on her own terms. She has blossomed beautifully in our care and is now a genuinely pleasant companion to spend time with(see her VIDEO). Chanel is lively, independent, and endlessly entertaining. She loves to watch the world from a perch, scratch everything in sight (carpets, wood, cardboard, she's not picky), and alternate between energetic play sessions and long, satisfying naps. Chanel is a high-energy girl who plays hard and has a history of overstimulation. She does best when she initiates contact, and she'll let you know when she's had enough - so reading her cues is key. She has not lived with other cats or dogs. One thing she hasn't come around on yet: the carrier. Patience and positive reinforcement will be her friend there. Chanel will do better in an experienced and adult only home where her new owners will respect her boundaries and let relationships build over time. If you're looking for a cat who will keep you on your toes, reward your patience, and eventually curl up for pets on her schedule, Chanel just might be your girl. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you

He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Bell tolerates some attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. 🆘🆘 FUJI APPLE (ID 247571), 6 YO, MALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 2/14/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- landlord won't allow. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 3/28/26 ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 41 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ FUJI APPLE IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: With a comprehensive and detailed list in paw, Fuji Apple came prepared to review each and every point with me. I love a cat who comes prepared! And to be perfectly honest, I love how he kind of assumed I wasn't. I listened to him and waited, which is what I think all Fuji Apple really wanted. When he realized I was ready to go along with his ideas, he temporarily set it aside to go with the flow Fuji Apple style. Leaning his head into my hand for pets and gently nuzzling, Fuji Apple's looking for a friend. He's actually been looking for one for a little while now. Brought to us with other cats, Fuji Apple was left here without much else information. He is, however, ready for a fresh start with you. Fuji Apple tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent and may need time to warm up to his new home. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 LAKER (ID 249298), 8 YO, MALR– IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an agency on 3/9/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 3/28/26 ➡️ SENIOR ALERT ➡️ MEDICAL PRIORITY – NEEDS MORE CARE AND ATTENTION THAN THE SHELTER CAN PROVIDE – IN FELINE ICU ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 18 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ LAKER IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS - Laker is an older kitty who was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism after losing a rapid weight loss and poor appetite were noted. He will need regular vet visits and daily medication to manage his disease. Behaviorally, he has allowed all medical handling. APPETITE ISSUES ARE A DEATH SENTENCE IN SHELTER. This evaluation/diagnosis means that LAKER will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Laker came to us feeling a little shut down and maybe all of his big feelings are partially why he's been trying to make himself so small. Brought to us with other cats after their guardian passed away, we don't know much about his life before and settling into shelter life seems to have brought more questions than answers. Finding comfort where he can, there are things Laker really likes. He just communicates it a little quieter than some of the other cats do. For example, Laker really likes to stretch out on the beds to look out the windows available in the free roaming rooms. We offer bubble and laser shows and though Laker's participation is more on the non-traditional side (i.e., only watching) we know that everyone's participation and their best looks a little different. When you come to visit Laker, he might be sitting close to one of his buddies and he might hop under the cat tree when the door opens, he'd still really like a chance to be heard and loved. Laker tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. He will likely need time to warm up to his new home.❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you
