This seems like a good idea, except that rape isn’t about sex, it’s about anger and power and control. Sure, this will stop some rapists — but it’s also going to piss them off, and that gets women killed. I’d be interested to hear what people think.

Someone was following me home one night and I called 911 and loudly said “Yes, hello there’s a man following me I think he’s about to rob..” and before I could say “me” he came up behind me and put his hand over my mouth and pulled me to the ground. I started screaming and I think the extra time he spent trying to pry the phone from my hands was too much and made him give up (not before kicking me in the head about 30 times). It really is just as simple as having to spend a few extra seconds sometimes. Is this a foolproof method? Maybe not. But maybe it could buy another woman those few extra seconds.
