Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. As the world comes together for mental health support, here are some actions you can take today,
- Express Gratitude: Gratitude can increase psychological wellbeing and improve self-esteem.
- Prioritize Peacefulness: What do you need to experience moments of peace today? Whether it’s a break from screens, a nap, a workout class, or a healthy meal, make time for what your body needs!
- Be A Source Of Support: Take time to ask a friend how they’re doing, know where the resources are on campus, and let your team know you believe their #MentalHealthMatters ❤️❤️❤️

I am a first grade teacher ( 13 years) so I can say with confidence that first graders know football and they love their teachers. Especially when their teacher is a Coug and taught them the fight song. We for got this! ❤️🐾🏈

Remember pressure is a privilege. It means things are expected of you. Show up for all of them this week! I believe in you! Yes and I would argue that many students are not being challenged! That’s the problem with most curriculum and we must make sure that we as their teachers make sure that all are students are getting what they need to grow as readers, writers, mathematicians and scientists.

No one ever talks about how upper grade curriculum is wildly off base from what kids need. Hyper focus on K-2 is necessary for (arguably obvious) reasons but neglecting to adjust curriculum to the needs of 8-11 year olds is a major part of the problems we see in our system

Recess and play are SEL. They help decrease aggressive and off task behavior as well as decease anxiety and depression . They increase self regulation of emotions and improve academic performance! Let them play!
