I swear I see everyone talking about ban lists and everyone is ignoring the biggest problem. Being able to play cards that have already been played. We have Flow now. Pack of Wonders and Fizz got to go.

We have a ban announcement coming July 16. Here’s where I stand: The only card I think really deserves a close look is Star-Crossed. It invalidates almost every 6+ cost unit that doesn’t have “can’t be chosen,” which leaves a huge number of expensive units effectively unplayable. I could understand looking at Aurora simply because it’s become the default Best of orange deck. That said, I think that’s more of an orange card pool issue than Aurora being overpowered. It hasn’t even won an RQ yet. I also don’t buy the “future design space” argument. We already have Baron Nashor and Elder Dragon; the two biggest finishers in the game, in the same color combination, and they aren’t breaking the format. I doubt we’ll see units that outclass them anytime soon. The last argument I hear is that Aurora “isn’t fun to play against.” I’ve never liked banning cards for that reason. Fun is subjective, people enjoy different archetypes, and Aurora is currently the only viable Tier 2 ramp deck. As for Aspirant’s Climb and Arena’s Greatest, I think they’re so generically powerful that they discourage other battlefields from seeing play. I wouldn’t be surprised if they stayed or went. I’d also keep an eye on Ekko. It’s a very dangerous card, but I still think combo is healthy to have overall. Interactable combo should have a place in Riftbound.
