These decisions are always met with pushback, but it takes strong leadership to make the tough decisions for the good of the entire community. It can't be free forever, and scholastic is advancing enough that free is not sustainable. Time to break out the student car wash

@Mom_Rl True. I’ll never argue you have to pay for something you don’t find value in. Just argue that if you do want a service, then someone has to provide that service and that someone needs to make ends meet. My argument is less case specific and more general.

@JaketheDad30 Agreed, generally more funding = better service. The reality is that it isn't 1:1 though. However if your service is free and I don't want it why am I going to pay for it now? Their competition in rl is CRL which is significantly better and most importantly FREE to the player.

@Mom_Rl The argument that the service is bad is valid. But that’s why there is competition There should be options that compete. Couldn’t you also argue with more funding a better product could be provided? Is there any other examples outside of esports where free has been sustainable?

@JaketheDad30 Definitely just conjecture, but their historical pricing in the thousands paints a very telling story. In my 3.5 years of playing collegiate rl I would say their league is worth no more than $10. I genuinely don't even know what their platform is for and it was FREE previously.

@Mom_Rl Perhaps. But I was told from those in the know that this was a platform decision and not a league one. Do you have other insights I haven’t caught yet? I’m interested if you know that or it’s conjecture.

@JaketheDad30 This change was made to pinch money from schools that have an abundance of cash and some laissez-faire spending policies.

@JaketheDad30 I think this argument would hold a lot more weight if the league itself was better than just playing ranked. There is absolutely 0 chance I as a student am going to pay for a league worse than ranked. When I already am losing out on money and time by playing rl in college.
