Amazing evening in @MomoRestaurant tonight, last minute booking, amazing food but was allowed to crash a wine tasting by Kamilla who was hosting @WinesDirect , some fabulous wines from the Mosel region.. normally I would share pictures of the food/wine but it’s all disappeared 😂

Just wondering how the ultimate wine aficionado @HPIAndyCowper and wine snob @AntonyWillman would rate these cheeky little numbers from a fabulous restaurant @MomoRestaurant (oldest city in 🇮🇪 ) available from @WinesDirect

Owner of the Eala Bhán and Hooked restaurants in Sligo, @anthonygsligo, is the latest RAI Council Member to call on the Government directly to reinstate the 9% VAT rate for food-led businesses immediately to avoid further restaurant and café closures and a subsequent slew of job losses across the country. Ireland’s hospitality and tourism sector is the country’s largest indigenous employer, providing hundreds of thousands of jobs in regional towns and villages nationwide that would not otherwise exist. The Government needs to understand that, unlike the case in big cities, when a restaurant or café closes in a rural area, it is not likely to be replaced and the social and economic consequences of the loss of community hubs are both devastating and far-reaching.

Restaurants already apply separate VAT rates to food and alcohol on a bill for a meal, for example, and six other EU nations have already achieved food and accommodation decouplings. It is pivotal now that the Taoiseach and Finance Minister @mmcgrathtd support the reinstatement of the 9% VAT rate for food-led businesses, as his Government colleagues Ministers @simoncoveney and @nealerichmond have in recent weeks. We can not allow a situation of small, independent restaurant and cafés being subject to the same VAT rate as large accommodation providers. So @TheSJTobin and I are looking at doing a little road trip with our boys (13+14) and we're thinking Waterford .... All suggestions of places to stay & things to do with teenagers are very welcome !
