also the 3rd point is very rarely executed but mainly to protect players who were enticed to splurge. Monkeygate is the well-known example but Korwa was released too broken and had to be rebalanced so they ended up refunding everyone all they spent bc of their balancing issues

most people only discuss the first point but the 2nd point on transparency prevents gachas from selling false rates which they kind of did with monkey gate. if you play jp gacha, you'll find that there's often a full list of individual appearance rates of characters

the thing about gbf is that not only has it been around for more than a decade, it: - normalised the pity system for guarantees - made it mandatory for gachas to display individual rates - set precedent for refunds due to game balancing issues and/or banner issues (korwa)
