What better way to spend your summer than learning new skills at Summer School! From art and music, to science and typing, there's always something new to learn!
This week in 1975, Sir Richard Eggleston was elected as @MonashUni Chancellor following the death of Sir Douglas Menzies in office the previous November. A former judge and then lecturer at Monash Law, Sir Richard served as Chancellor for eight years until 1983.

It's #WorldTypingDay! What better day to showcase Monash's Japanese typewriter which was purchased in 1969 for $1,000 ($12,000 today). In these two photos you can see it being used in 1984 and in its current home in the Archives.
As we all head back to work for another year, let's take a look at a @MonashUni office space in the 1970s. But this wasn't just any old office. It was the office of the Teaching Services Unit which, among other things, housed & distributed audio-visual material used for teaching.
Let's go back to the 1960s to have a look at some science labs from @MonashUni's earliest days!

Because @MonashPharm has its origins in the late 1800s, we are lucky enough at the Archives to have some pharmacy related items that are over 150 years old! These prescription books, for example, are from 1863-1929, making them some of the oldest items in our collection.
Did you know @MonashUni used to have campuses at Berwick and Gippsland? Berwick campus was opened in 1996, while Gippsland was the Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education from 1968 until it merged with Monash in 1990. Both campuses are now part of Federation Uni.
Did you know that from the start there were plans for a hospital to be included on Clayton campus? When this didn't happen, students had to rely on distant hospitals, including the Queen Victoria Hospital. Monash's residence block is pictured here in 1964.
