Privacy in crypto is getting cheaper. Most costs in a privacy transaction such as relaying, proof generation, nullifiers, indexing, and audits are small or can be amortized at scale. The real constraint is no longer storage but compute. Solana’s architecture makes this easier to scale, allowing privacy protocols to achieve far higher throughput than Ethereum. As the infrastructure matures, privacy will increasingly become a standard low fee option for everyday transactions.

The Google Quantum AI whitepaper points to Monero as one of the clearest examples of proactive post-quantum planning, citing Zero to Monero, Luke Parker’s manifesto, and MRL Issue #131. Monero is already doing the hard research needed to preserve privacy in a PQ world.

Ghost isn't a month long project. It's a 6-12 month commitment from our team to deliver the endgame of privacy layers built from scratch that is optimized for every onchain defi transaction. The hardest part of this is that we're building a huge and complex program onchain, and this requires stupid amount of testing and auditing. Not only are we building onchain, we're also building a cryptography heavy application with its own offchain components like indexer, relayer, api server, etc. And all of this needs to be trustless, optimized for latency, etc to make private swaps have a UX as seamless as public swaps. If we get this right, there could be huge and obvious product market fit. Who wouldn't want private swaps? That is why we are so committed to building Ghost. We're motivated by the idea that privacy can become a core part of the Solana experience. Private defi could be the next area in crypto to explode in popularity. Aster building privacy is already a strong signal that privacy is an attractive user feature. It gives your application a real competitive edge, because users are more likely to choose a platform that offers privacy over one that does not.

Yep, Ghost Protocol is the base layer that enables any smart contract to connect and unlock immediate private defi capabilities.

Preparing for onchain privacy~🧡

Dev Update: We spent the past few days working on our onchain programs. Some prominent changes include: - migrating from sentinel SOL private note to using WSOL - simplification of Ghost authorizedBuilders - building the cpi entrypoints to Ghost Protocol Now, we're focusing more on our offchain applications, like our relayer server, indexer, internal sdk, and frontend.
