@Monero_Magazine @gialloxmr Maybe not 50k tps but 500 tps could be enough. Solana does 3k sustained now but it has a lot of defi stuff while Monero only payments. That with storage prices going down over time it could be good enough.

@anachron_ @gialloxmr Technically impossible. At 50k TPS, Monero privacy tech (RingCT) would generate 10TB of data per day. Solana 2TB SSD requirement would be full in 4 hours. You can't turn a lead lined vault into a lightning solution without losing the privacy that makes XMR valuable.

@Monero_Magazine @gialloxmr Monero doesn't need an L2, you can use 0-conf for small transactions and slowly increase system requirements until it is as fast as Solana, which can handle global load with 1-3s confirmations, but it needs expensive nodes with 512gb ram, 12 cores and 2tb nvme at minimum.

@gialloxmr Let's say that 1% (80 million) use it daily at a rate of 2 transactions per week, that's 5 Ko per person = 381,46 Go per week. It could be expensive to run the nodes.

Mass adoption is extremely utopic and unnecessary. I don't want the average Joe to be able to use Monero. At that point that is compromised. It's a tool for certain people. For the 20% that never follows rules or try to fight. The 20% that didn't do the covd Vax or doesn't believe and endorse politicians. It's 20%. Not mass adoption. The mass doesn't and will never want to be out of the system, you guys seem to never speak with people irl

@aliasCasperFI Ahahah, I hadn't noticed that. It is funny, actually. What more can I say? The goal is to create a hub to showcase Monero creators and media. I would like the content to be driven by users. I am also open to ideas from the community for integrating other features.

@Monero_Magazine Cool. Is that a pun intended, or just oddly made me smile? use of the term a "CENTRALIZING" information, isn't there a better word like drawing attention to your project? It's a great idea though and i'd love details.

@Satoshi_Kakarot Monero will remain the way forward, but we need to consider the challenges of global adoption, and that is what we are aiming for. x.com/i/status/20170… x.com/i/status/20169…

@XMRVoid 1/ If Monero is to achieve mass adoption, we need to embrace the development of layer-2 solutions as the only healthy way to scale. A base-layer blockchain simply isn't meant to absorb the transaction load of billions of people. To put it in perspective, Visa and Mastercard are

@gialloxmr 2/2 spiking infra costs is a pipe dream. A modular approach using L2s to absorb the transaction load is the only realistic path forward. So, it's not about being pro- or anti-L2. The real questions are: how do we keep them secure, and what’s our Plan B?"

@gialloxmr 1/2 Mass adoption makes L2s a "when," not an "if." No base layer can handle global traffic alone. The real hurdle is keeping that L2 ecosystem decentralized and private. Unless there’s a massive tech breakthrough, hitting Visa-level scaling without wrecking decentralization or

Controversial opinion: We do not need a layer 2 $XMR This is adding friction and complicates Monero which goes against its purpose. Monero is supposed to be frictionless digital cash and replace the dollar XMR is so small right now that you can run a node on a 15 year old computer. There is no need for a layer two in its current state and not only that but XMR is scaleable Monero’s future handling visa level volume relies on storage and bandwidth tech improving. Let’s look at history.. and oh yeah tech has only improved and we now have 1TB microSD cards thought impossible💀 The amount of transaction fees that will be taken from the network to fund security during edge cases is not worth adding on an L2 Let’s look at bitcoin lightning: complete failure and proves my theory that friction will be a key reason why XMR would fail How we transact with XMR needs to stay the same and focus on base layer.
