@Iamsamirarora But is it enough? Or do we still need more time correction (since large price correction is not happening)? Aren't we still at too premium a valuation? What are the chances that we have another year like this before we can pick up steam again?

India has been among the worst performing markets in the region this year, up 1% in USD vs. MXAPJ/EM up 21%/22%. India's YTD underperformance of 20pp vs. MXAPJ is the weakest in 30 years. Source: Goldman Sachs Such underperformance along with interest rate cuts, GST cuts, some sort of US India trade peace etc. should help future returns Source: Me

@BeingPolitical1 Using the old pic to call her current lifestyle hypocritical? She has now gone plant-based. How many people have the awareness and strength to learn and grow like that? Instead of spreading lies, better to learn from her. Which cruel habits can we give up? How can we do better?

@iRadhikaGupta This typically happens not because of any conscious strategy but because of chasing top performers wrt point to point returns which inevitably leads to disappointment later.

I recently saw a portfolio of an investor with a 27,000 monthly SIP. Across 31 funds. 15 were narrow sectoral ones. A danger in these times is to fill your portfolio with narrow ideas that ideally are satellite allocation. Remember, 80% of the portfolio should be “dal-chawal” funds!

@monikahalan @htTweets The term "surrender" is apt since the investor is treated exactly like the victor in war would treat a defeated enemy that surrenders.

@ActusDei As a financial intermediary, I follow a simple rule of thumb to avoid such mistakes: Would I myself invest in this instrument / advise my senior citizen parents to? If yes, consider it for clients, otherwise not. Rules out unnecessary risks due to greed for returns/commissions.

ICICI Pru Real Estate AIF matured in March 2023 with money still stuck in various projects. It has 1 year to wind up and has so far given a paltry return of 17% (absolute not annualized) over the past 7 years. IIFL Real Estate Fund also matured this year with an IRR of just 6% - again a similar story. The problem however is wider. Credit risk is housed in Cat II AIFs and these are selling like hot cakes. Why? Because upfront commissions (one third of total) are allowed. As always, the commission is the culprit. Why do MFs have a cap but not PMS/AIF? Why is upfronting allowed in some AIFs and not others? The industry always comes back with 'HNIs know what they are doing.' Retirees with 1 crore savings are also 'HNIs' because nobody has to check net worth or bothers to look at product suitability. It is time to bring uniformity - let a common expense ratio cap apply to everyone. Story by @sashindnj livemint.com/money/personal… #investing #personalfinance

@ActusDei @apri_sharma @jashkriplani Comparing apples and oranges. The value provided by the theatre experience is not just display of content. Big screen, awesome sound, 3D, 4Dx, F & B, family / friends outing, are all part of the experience not provided by OTT. Both provide different kinds of value.

@pvsubramanyam Yes, but planning about what happens one's assets after death involves more than just making a will. There are many factors that will decide whether the transmission of assets will be easy, peaceful, inexpensive and without disputes. Professional advice can be invaluable.

Can someone explain to me how this works If Rs 2000 will remain legal tender, why would banks only exchange and deposit till Sept 2023 ? If it's legal tender they cannot refuse even after, unless it's not going to be legal tender right ?

Asking the financial community on my timeline: What are the ways in which you think some financial influencers mislead investors? Is it just on return expectation or other issues as well. Examples? I'm putting together a note - so your inputs will help. My DM is open.

Sebi is reportedly considering introducing performance fees in #mutualfunds. This is a bad idea. Why? 1) MFs are simple to understand, simple to invest. They need to stay simple. 2) Performance fees incentivize excessive risk taking. 3) Benchmarks can be gamed and performance fees maximized. 4) Calculating and levying it is difficult. 5) PMS and AIFs have performance fees, they don't do any better than MFs and often do worse. @ActusDei Would be interesting to know what % of people in each age bracket invest in mutual funds. No. of folios can be higher because of accumulation of new schemes over the years. Doesn't necessarily mean more people investing from that age bracket.

The MF investor base = uncle/aunty rather than bro/sis. 😅 Approx 60% of #mutualfund investors are above the age of 35. Data released today by AMFI
