¡Bienvenidos a Cuetzalan! Un pueblo mágico enclavado en la sierra Norte de Puebla. Aquí nada parece forzado. El pueblo no fue diseñado en papel… fue creciendo poco a poco, adaptándose a la montaña. Por eso sus calles suben, bajan y giran sin seguir líneas rectas, y sus casas parecen acomodarse unas sobre otras, como si cada una hubiera encontrado su lugar exacto con el paso del tiempo. Esa forma de crecer le da algo que pocos destinos conservan: autenticidad. Las construcciones tradicionales mantienen una identidad muy clara. Fachadas blancas, techos de teja roja y materiales pensados para el clima de la sierra. No hay edificios que rompan la armonía. Todo se siente parte del mismo paisaje, como si el pueblo y la montaña fueran una sola cosa. Y justo al centro, dominando la vista, está la Parroquia de San Francisco de Asís. No es una iglesia cualquiera. Su construcción tomó varias décadas, y eso se nota en su diseño: mezcla distintos estilos arquitectónicos que no suelen convivir en un mismo edificio. Tiene detalles que recuerdan al renacimiento, otros al gótico, y una torre que se levanta como punto de referencia entre los cerros. Cuetzalan viene del náhuatl y significa “lugar de quetzales”, aves sagradas para las culturas prehispánicas. Y aunque hoy no es común verlas, el nombre sigue cargando esa idea de algo valioso, casi escondido entre la sierra. Tal vez por eso este lugar se siente distinto. No intenta impresionar… pero termina haciéndolo. 📸IG: miguel_kurz

Peak primrose unlocked! For #wildflowerhour #storyplants, in the Middle Ages, concoctions of these beautiful flowers were used to treat gout & rheumatism, & more fittingly I think, also employed in love potions! They certainly seemed a great favourite with the Bee-flies today! 💛

In the last week it feels as if Spring has finally flluttered into the hills and dales of the Peak District. The lanes are filled with blackbirds, the moors ring with the curlew’s song, the trees are proudly bearing their brand new green on every twig, and there are daffodils in all the verges.
