My parents taught me to be bold kindly ask questions strive for excellence pray have faith and know God will carry you through as He did them. Despite struggles against racism they believed their legacies could fulfill their dreams. Civil rights leaders like Rev Jesse Jackson, who pushed for the diversity of newsrooms and inspired me to courageously be a voice for those who considered themselves voiceless and to seek out those who thought no one cared about them. Now inclusion diversity and equity are being challenged changed or deleted. Yet I’m optimistic and still believe in the power of HOPE and KEEPING IT ALIVE.
