Monkey Forest joins the conservation organisations across the world in paying tribute to Dr Jane Goodall DBE, one of the most iconic figures in wildlife conservation and primatology, who sadly passed away yesterday. Dr Goodall inspired countless people and was one of the strongest leaders for protecting the world's biodiversity - working tirelessly for the protection and restoration of our natural world. Jane was a role model to millions, paved the path for other female primatologists, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations. As we continue our mission to protect Barbary macaques, we will always remember her and the fantastic work she accomplished in her life. Thank you, Dr Jane Goodall 🐵❤️ Rest in Peace 🌹

“What we uncovered in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains could change the future of Barbary macaque conservation forever…” Patryk Kulikowski and Matt Gardiner PHD share their fieldwork experience in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, observing Barbary macaques in their natural habitat as part of a group from @LJMU . Their diary captures the beauty and challenges of life in the wild - while highlighting why conservation of these endangered primates is so urgent. The baby monkey adoption packs + general visits help us to support amazing research projects like these, through the @PrimateSociety 🐒🫶 Read our latest blog from our live conservation project news to hear all about their experiences. 📸 - Patryk Kulikowski Read more here 👇 monkey-forest.com/conservation/l…

From the Trentham ground to the monkey’s tummies 😋 We recently fed the monkeys some of the fresh apples that we ourselves have grown here at Monkey Forest 🍎 Park Manager Lisa and Park Director Matt headed to the trees and collected quite a few for the 140 monkeys to enjoy 🐵 We think it’s safe to say they loved the fresh apples 🐒

Wholesome post alert🚨 !! Try not to gasp too loud ⚠️ 🥹 “Do the males take any notice of the babies?” YES! THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM🥹❤️ Despite paternity being unknown, Barbary macaque males look after, protect and babysit for the mums. They have much affection towards the new arrivals! They regularly babysit which is a rare characteristic amongst primates. The babies help them to establish friendly contact with other males and establish bonds/reinforce friendships 🥰 Here are a selection of pictures that show one of the males carefully grooming a little one - so much so that it fell asleep on his knee 🥹❤️🫶!!!! Grooming is a way in which Barbary macaques express affection. This little one was SO relaxed it was absolutely conked out 🤣🙈!

🚨BABY UPDATE 🚨 They’re learning the Barbary macaque way more and more, each & every day ❤️🥹🫶 Here are a selection of pictures showing you what the little ones are getting up to! As the 11 babies grow confidence, they’ll start to explore more. From clambering their woodland home to showing play faces to other monkeys that are closest in age! Look at them following the 2 & 3 year olds about like little besties✨🥹 It is so so so adorable to watch them fall in love with their 60 acre woodland home here in Staffordshire❤️🌍📍

Baby Barbary macaque fact✨🥹🐵 New borns feed only on milk, from 1.5 months old, they will start to diversify their diet by learning from the other monkeys in the group. Weaning takes place gradually with the mother feeding less as time marches on. By 6 months they will eat relatively similar to the others. But will still drink small quantities of milk 🫶

1️⃣1️⃣ BABY MONKEYS ❤️🐒🥹 Eleven, it’s absolute monkey heaven here at Trentham Monkey Forest 🥰🫶 The latest arrival to the woodland was born high up in the treetops during late July🥳 We’re SO happy to have welcomed 11 babies so far in 2025. Our population of protected Barbary macaques continues to thrive ✨ We think this might be the last arrival of the year, so we’re savouring every moment with these adorable fluffy individuals while they’re still lickle!! If you fancy a wholesome trip to us this summer, you’re bound to see one of the little ones and hear the pitter patter of tiny, playful feet 🥹👣 ❤️!
