THE MUMMY Released December 16, 1959 An archaeology team discover the tomb of an Egyptian princess, guarded by an undead mummy who will avenge all who desecrate the site. The Mummy, directed by Terence Fisher stars Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. It was written by Jimmy Sangster and produced by Michael Carreras and Anthony Nelson Keys for Hammer Film Productions. The film was distributed in the UK on 25 September 1959, and in the U.S. in December, 1959 on a double bill with either the Vincent Price film The Bat or the Universal film Curse of the Undead. Though the title suggests Universal Pictures' 1932 film of the same name, the film actually derives its plot and characters entirely from two 1940s Universal films, The Mummy's Hand and The Mummy's Tomb, with the climax borrowed directly from The Mummy's Ghost. The character name Joseph Whemple, the use of a sacred scroll, and a few minor plot elements are the only connections with the 1932 version.

HAPPY KRAMPUSNACHT from MONSTER KID STUDIOS!! Join us tonight (Dec. 5, 8PM EST) for our LIVE STREAM of FRIDAY NITE FRIGHTS and our very special KRAMPUSNACHT CELEBRATION! @monsterkidstudios" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">YouTube.com/@monsterkidstu… The Krampus (German: [ˈkʁampʊs]) is a horned anthropomorphic figure who, in the Central and Eastern Alpine folkloric tradition, is said to accompany Saint Nicholas on visits to children during the night of 5 December (Krampusnacht; "Krampus Night"), immediately before the Feast of St. Nicholas on 6 December. In this tradition, Saint Nicholas rewards well-behaved children with small gifts, while Krampus punishes badly behaved ones with birch rods. The origin of the figure is unclear; some folklorists and anthropologists have postulated that it may have pre-Christian origins, although historians generally consider this unlikely, as it is not attested until the 16th century. In certain traditional parades and in such events as the Krampuslauf ("Krampus run"), some young men dressed as Krampus attempt to scare the audience with their antics. Krampus is featured on holiday greeting cards called Krampuskarten. A likely origin may be found with the most ancient Turkic region Luwian/Hittite solar deity Šanta/Sandas which is illustrated alongside a horned lion on coinage. Therein considering Šanta equates to Nergal; the scorcher' and Hata (Sin); the Lion being a solar symbol adorned with horns representing power' is an amalgamacy to the midday sun. Krampus having the function of a punisher may find root in that allegory. Later adaptations such as st. Nicholas formed out of christenization.. may also be related due to their location of origin to be Turkic (myra). The figure has been imported into popular culture around the world, and has appeared in movies, TV shows and video games. #krampusnacht #krampusnacht #krampusnächt #krampus #krampusnacht #krampusnight #krampusiscoming #krampuschristmas #monsterkidstudios #monsterkidstudiostees #monsterkidstudiosyoutube #monsterkidstudiostshirts #monsterkidstudiosonyoutube #fridaynitefrights #FridayNiteFrights

HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN Released December 1, 1944 House of Frankenstein stars Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr. and John Carradine. It was directed by Erle C. Kenton and produced by Universal Pictures. Based on Curt Siodmak's story "The Devil's Brood", the film is about Dr. Gustav Niemann, who escapes from prison and promises to create a new body for his assistant Daniel. Over the course of the film, they encounter Count Dracula, the Wolf Man (Larry Talbot), and Frankenstein's monster. The film is a sequel to Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943).[4] Universal had initially planned a film titled Chamber of Horrors, which would have included several of their horror-themed characters, but this project was canceled. The concept was later revived as House of Frankenstein. Filming began on April 4, 1944, with the highest budget for a Universal Frankenstein film at that time, and ended in early May. Screenings started in New York City on December 15, 1944. It was not among the highest-grossing films for Universal that year, but it managed to make more money than other Universal horror-related output such as Ghost Catchers (1944) and The Invisible Man's Revenge (1944). Film historian Gregory W. Mank notes that the critics "made mincemeat" out of House of Frankenstein upon its release.[5] Retrospective reviews focused on the absurdity of connecting the monsters together and the lack of scares in the film. A sequel titled House of Dracula that involved much of the same cast and crew was released in 1945.

Today we celebrate Forrest J. Ackerman 11/24/1916 - 12/4/2008 Affectionately known as "Uncle Forry" to his fans, Forrest J. Ackerman was a magazine editor; science fiction writer, and literary agent; a founder of science fiction fandom; a leading expert on science fiction, horror, and fantasy films; a prominent advocate of the Esperanto language; and one of the world's most avid collectors of genre books and film memorabilia. He was based in Los Angeles, California - or as he referred to it: "Karloffornia." In 1958 publisher James Warren hired Ackerman to edit FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND. The first issue, published in February 1958, was so successful that it required a second printing to fulfill public demand. Its future as part of American culture was immediately obvious. FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND initially ran from 1958 to 1983 and is directly responsible for the fandom of millions of "Monster Kids" around the world. Cheers Uncle Forry!
