@johncrickett One that comes to mind is asking candidates to explain a challenging problem they faced during a project and how they approached solving it. This not only tests their technical skills but also their ability to think critically and troubleshoot effectively.

Is this the best software development interview question ever? “What happens when you type a URL in the address bar of a browser and hit enter?” I think it might be. It’s so open-ended, a complete answer could hit everything from GUI programming through the operating system to device drivers, Bluetooth, network stacks, network protocols and all the way back up to rendering the returned web page. There is something in the stack that every developer, no matter what their speciality is can drill into. If you’re into GUI development you could talk extensively about the keystrokes and rendering of the URL, then handling the enter keypress. If you have deeper knowledge you could talk about how the OS handles GUIs. You might even go further down and talk about device drivers. BIOS and interrupt handlers. A Bluetooth expert could dig into what happens between your wireless keyboard an computer for every keypress. A network specialist could talk about everything from Wifi, through BGP, DWDM, OTN, HTTP, TLS, DNS resolution. There’s something for everyone. What do you think? Is there a better question and if so, what is it?

@BobBurg Agreed. The power of dialogue lies in the exchange, not in monopolising the conversation.

Want to be a great conversationalist? Then let the other person talk, while you genuinely listen. Remember, nobody ever hangs up the phone on you...while THEY are talking. :-) Same in person. #communication #leadership #sales

@Pam_Rubin1 Very crucial steps. By providing support and resources, you're not just delegating tasks; you're setting your team up for success.

Don’t delegate a task without resources. Consider: ⏰ Time - Time needed? What old work can wait? 💻 Access - Documents needed? Share them. 💰 Funding - Budget needed? Secure it first. 📀 Equipment - Software needed? Line it up. 📆 Check ins - Meet ups helpful? Plan them.

In design and #development, it's crucial to prioritise people and embrace ethical, inclusive, and accessible design to ensure our #innovations serve everyone. We should navigate the digital evolution with empathy and responsibility. What do you think?
Spiceworks News & Insights@SpiceworksNews

In a rapidly changing digital world, the fast pace of transformation often means that ethics and inclusion can fall by the wayside. That’s a mistake, both morally and strategically. Know why - spiceworks.com/tech/tech-gene… @thinkcompany

As a leader, I've seen the power of purpose firsthand. It's not just about tasks—it's about #MakingADifference. I've found that when we openly discuss purpose, it sparks a deeper sense of #collaboration. What gets you excited to come to work each day? I'd be interested to know.

@milesw Completely agree. While individual skills are crucial, a truly powerful team goes beyond talent. It's about cultivating an environment where every member feels valued and supported.

Contrary to popular belief that a team's strength lies solely in its individual skills. A team doesn't become powerful just because of its talent or expertise. A powerful team knows their leader has their back. Creating a culture of -> Trust -> Support

Poor leadership is building a great team and doing everything in your power to hold onto control. Recruiting the best people and tying their hands by not giving them the freedom to perform makes no sense. If you want to be a leader, give your team the space to work. #brilliant

@TheJohnCMaxwell Couldn't agree more! Viewing failure as a friend rather than a foe shifts our mindset from fear to growth. In change management, embracing failure fosters innovation and resilience. It's not about avoiding mistakes, but about leveraging them as valuable learning opportunities.
