Having a hard time wrapping my head around what I think “classic” should mean in this context, but I reckon Antediluvian - The Divine Punishment should achieve more of a cult classic status and Malokarpatan - Vertumnus Caesar is probably my flat favorite.

Updated 2026 Album of the Year list.
Not much to add. It's been a relatively weak year so far. I will admit: I expected to hate Reeking Aura. I was proven wrong. It's quite good. That was a big surprise. Always nice when that happens.

@lzrd_skn_ritual Had the exact same thought re: Negative Plane! Felt like grasping at straws but it was the major thing that came up for me. Considered Lamp of Murmuur “Submission and Slavery” as well but I don’t think full on CLASSIC. I’m with you 100% on Kêres for my personal canon

@MoonButcher Funnily enough as I was thinking and looking through albums, Negative Plane was one that came to mind, but would the third album really be THE classic? I don't think so... I do think it's very age related tho. If I was 10 years younger I might say a Kêres album broke new ground

I think I have looked at all the responses, and there are certainly a few albums I've really loved and return to regularly from the past 5 years. Some may be a classic TO ME, but my answer to this question is "probably not."
