The hiccups on arweave (dot) net this week highlight how location-independent data only solves half the problem. You store something on Arweave and it's replicated across hundreds of nodes worldwide. Then you access it through a single domain and single point of failure. If that access point slows down, migrates to new infra, gets blocked or breaks, your permanent data becomes temporarily unavailable. Some users are feeling that right now. We built Wayfinder to pair location-independent storage with location-independent access through the ar.io network. This makes your routing as resilient as your storage. Instead of someurl.com you use ar://txid or ar://ardrive. Wayfinder picks a gateway from the ar.io network, routes your request, fetches the data, and verifies it cryptographically before returning it (if you are into that kind of thing). The gateway becomes transport, not a trusted authority. If one goes down, another serves the same content. Automatically. You control the routing. Fastest ping. Highest operator stake. Or run your own preferred gateway with network fallback if yours goes down. "Decentralized" infrastructure that still funnels through a centralized front door isn't decentralized access. ar.io Content Scanner is now in the Extensions Store! Content Scanner is a moderation sidecar for ar.io gateways. It watches content as it's cached, detects phishing, and auto-blocks it before the next visitor sees it. ar.io gateways serve immutable content... including phishing kits that impersonate wallets, harvest seed phrases, and steal credentials. Gateways serving this end up on blocklists like Google Safe Browsing, Netcraft, and others. I built Content Scanner to stop that. Arweave content is static. No backend, no server. A password form posting to an external URL has no legitimate use on the permaweb. Neither does a seed phrase harvester exfiltrating to a remote server. The scanner exploits that with multiple detection rules, each requiring 2+ independent signals to fire. An XGBoost ML model provides advisory scoring. Google Safe Browsing adds another independent signal. Nothing blocks without high confidence.
