🦈 Sharks have been here for 450 million years, longer than trees. Yet today, 1 in 3 shark and ray species faces extinction. Without them, ocean food webs unravel. These guardians of the sea need our protection now more than ever.

As a shark sanctuary, The Bahamas lets the @CEIbahamas study marine pollution's impact on reef, tiger, nurse, lemon, and blacktip sharks, free from fishing pressure. Their findings will help shape conservation policy. Learn more: islandschool.org/sharks/

What is a Marine Protected Area? #MPAs are ocean zones where human activity is regulated to protect marine life and habitats. Some are fully off-limits; others allow carefully managed activity. When enforced, they are among our most powerful tools for ocean health. 🌊
