I love the way Peter Hartshorne reprised James' theme in this special The first two times it's mostly the same, jazzy and lingering, ending with that ominous note to reflect James' breaks are causing him grief Then the third time, it's used in a scene with Thomas and Edward, that doesn't feature James (yet), it's in a lower pitch, and changes it's chord at the end, and then transitions to the Runaway theme before James is shown a runaway Brilliant 👌❤️

The way James tries to hide his brakes baking is gold The way he tries to extinguish the smoke with his breath 🤣

I just realized the moment where Thomas doesn't wait to properly fill up on water was a plot point to when he struggles to wake up He was even more tired because he wasn't hydrated enough XD

@germanloco02 Good point. But, that would've mucked up the continuity of him having his blue livery in the original book. I still see where you're coming from though!

@MooreMaxim48323 The only thing I find could be changed is that it should have been placed at the end, after he rescued James. I think that would have made it just a bit better, but glad we got it nonetheless as well

I still find it amazing that we actively got to SEE Thomas be repainted from his former livery to blue The fact we got to see how he got his iconic livery is still mind-blowing to me in 2026 It's little things like this that make appreciate this special even more
