Pistons know they’re wrong for not getting Cade some secondary scoring at the deadline, MPJ was right there

Biggest individual surprise so far is the lack of production from Jalen Duren, he’ll be All-NBA but definitely losing out on some $

@MoorePaco And they won’t try collective barraging because then they lose all power

Its disappointing that so many people operating in grassroots/collegiate sports that have gotten rich through the former system are advocating for non-negotiated constraints 🤷🏾‍♂️

@anthonyraia_ Hence why the NCAA can no longer truly fight it legally and need executive action, because the courts have provided precedent at this point that a lot of what they were doing was anticompetitive.

@anthonyraia_ The players profiting are just taking advantage of an obviously flawed system that was flawed for a long time. Scales have been tipped and people just dont like the optics, but theres no valid/legal pathway to limit earnings without collectively bargaining.

If you are generating large amounts of revenue, you should be able to negotiate your free market value. Its not comparable to the vast majority of students on scholarship who will never play on a broadcast, sell a jersey or a ticket or bring in sponsorship opportunities.

While I agree the overall system could benefit from some guard rails, this is the mess the NCAA created. They could have avoided this long ago by making athletes employees, but they wanted to be greedy for as long as possible. Amateurism for the sake of amateurism is silly.

The conversation about limiting NIL earnings WITHOUT collective bargaining is simply uneducated. The only reason that professional sport leagues can do that is because the players, through a union, collectively agree to anticompetitive practices such as a salary cap and draft.
