@DuranteP_94 How essential is the parry mechanic at that point in the game? I tried the game, but was turned off by how parrying seemed to be a necessary mechanic rather than a nice bonus mechanic. i.e., missing parries felt like a you-might-as-well-reset bad thing.

I appear to be at about the 75% point but it suffices to say that Expedition 33 lives up to the billing and at a launch price of $50 it's already hugely worth the money. Must play for fans of JRPGs, turn-based narrative combat games, whatever you wanna call 'em. Instant classic.
