He said “In all honesty, farmers are affected. They bought inputs in high cost but they are not making sales. I’ve heard stories of farmers committing suicide because they’ve collected loans but can’t even break even. But I do not blame the president, the policy was necessary because of some greedy Nigerians.” This statement is coming days after Peter Obi received serious criticism for making similar comments.

Chief tinubu is an unmitigated disaster

As of January 2026, Nigeria’s total installed generation capacity stands at 13,625MW. In the same month, only an average of 4,901MW was available for dispatch but only 4,421MW was dispatched and consumed. As we speak, the current average available generation is 4,300MW. Information about how much of this is being dispatched and consumed is not available. But your guess is as good as mine. For a government that boasted that “we must have light” it is quite shameful that we have been stuck with such performance. To put this in context, NERC’s 2025 Q3 report stated that an average of 4,179MW was available for dispatch but as of year end 2021, NERC’s annual report shows that our available generation capacity was 5,254MW. One thing is clear President Tinubu is not going to solve our perennial electricity problems. It’s beyond his capacity. Such a shame
