@Morgan007A @RGUParamedics I can only speak for my institution but yes, we focus on many aspects of personal resilience including PTSD, anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome the Dunning Kruger effect and more.

@keiranmbellis @RGUParamedics The university's could do to making the paperwork aspect less time consuming for mentors. Simplify things . Do students get educated on PTSD ect

@lucygoss I went to a museum in Oxford a couple of weeks ago and they have an exhibition on clinically vulnerable and how they were treated. Shocking to the core . But have we learnt anything??? Politically ? Probably, service wise ? Probably not !

Watching this powerful, evocative dramatisation of reality without hyperbole and all I feel is sadness. Sadness for what happened in 2020-21 but as much, if not more, sadness for the ongoing catastrophes every health care worker in the UK is seeing every single day.

Exercise with proximal DVT? Met a runner today who had been told not to run because ‘it might dislodge the clot’. This seems nonsense to me and I can’t find any evidence to support this. If anything jogging would surely help recanalisation. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18078981/ Thoughts?

@lucygoss It's funny you say this , I say to my students, learn to talk before you treat. So many medical practitioners forget we are treating humans with problems not just problems .

I shared this because it’s pertinent to me right now. So often in medicine we’re encouraged to get to the top as quickly as possible. I firmly believe we should encourage juniors to follow their passions and take the scenic route. The NHS will only benefit in the long run.

@TheLeeMcLaren Shouldn’t be doing anything just in case, all actions should be based on clinical index of suspicion. As others said, it’s a haemorrhage control device and it’s application has wider consequences occluding TXA & transfer to MTC… just in case is out dated, profession has moved on

Would you apply a Pelvic Binder to a pt just in case? I’ve had a slightly heated debate with a Paramedic. I was told to apply a Pelvic Binding based on mechanism along. I thought the guidelines were to apply if there is a ? Open booked # and who are hemodynamically unstable?

No matter how busy I am, making 20 mins to eat lunch outside is a game changer. It’s sad that in the NHS this is seen as the exception not the norm, to the extent that I sometimes feel judged for doing so.

@lucygoss We get judged all the time when we grab a snack in the ambulance. Comments like " you should be saving people not eating " When did we become robots ?
