Tonight's movie is the big one! The mac daddy! The boss of bosses! The king of kings! "Conan the Barbarian" (1982) This is the movie by which all other sword and sorcery movies are compared. It is difficult for people under 40 to understand the cultural impact of this movie when it came out. This is the Star Wars of fantasy films in that it kickstarted a whole decade of similar films. It is the movie that turned Arnold Schwarzenegger into the star that he is today. He had done a few movies prior to this, but Conan and The Terminator were the movies that propelled him to stardom. I could go on and on about how great this movie is, but I'll save them for my thoughts in the comments at the end. In the meantime, go to Youtube and type in 'Conan movie reactions' and watch some young people discover the movie for the first time.

Now Watching Best Of The Best 1 & 2 (1989 & 1993) Two completely different martial arts movies, the first a great martial arts tournament movie, the second a hardcore martial arts revenge flick, both starring Eri Roberts, Phillip Rhee and Chris Penn. Any fans?

Universal Soldier (1992) Is a film I revisit with a strange sense of nostalgia primarily because it is my favourite Van Damme movie, and since we never got a Schwarzenegger Vs Stallone movie this Van Damme and Lundgren clash is as good a head to-head in action cinema as there is!!
