Total agreement. The constant attempts to make chess into Ludo to make more people appreciate it makes little sense to me. Chess is not for everyone. If you change it so it is for everyone, it will no longer be Chess. Chess is a game where we celebrate brilliancy, all these entertainment events, is where they celebrate great players making mistakes. Without classical chess, there is no parameter for these events to use for comparison. Most people's recent event were a classical tournament. Everyone still uses the classical rating system as a basis for their alternative events. If you find these alternative events enjoyable, enjoy them. They cannot replace classical chess, and classical chess is doing fine.
