This appears to be a grift and fearmongering. Why? Because no one is blocking First Nation's consent. No one is disrespecting their treaty and traditional rights. After independence, the First Nations themselves will have three choices--choices that only they get to make: (1) keep the Reserves as Government of Canada land and have the treaties administered by Ottawa just like they do today; (2) ask the new government of the country of Alberta to step into the shoes of Ottawa to administer First Nations treaty and traditional hunting, fishing, and other rights; or (3) enter into a new treaty relationship with Alberta.
