If these 50 schools that are severely underutilized (less than 33%) were closed and get operational spending per student to $18,000, like efficient schools, it would save $109 Million a year and can eliminate $2 Billion from planned capital projects many that are in immediate need.

@bibliographing @frantheman10 @BlockClubCHI Ah yes, a great argument of “I have my own bike so the city shouldn’t have a shared bike program in my neighborhood”. Also what was your sidewalk space being used for that is now obstructed? Can’t walk down it? I highly doubt it…..

@frantheman10 @BlockClubCHI Not for people who have their own bikes and don’t want more bike traffic from the least responsible riders. Or people who were using the wide sidewalk space that now has a big obstruction on it.

People should go to jail over this. $1.1 billion dollars per mile to extend the red line on the south side. South Shore rail extension in neighboring Hammond, Indiana, was only $118 million per mile.

This is where we are sinking almost $6 billion into transit....
