There’s a brilliant seamlessness to this sequence. This is the beauty of the Rotoscoping, that the connection between two disparate existences, the animator’s line and the performer's soul, becomes something that endures forever.

Fleischer Studios' 1933 version of SNOW WHITE. Surreal and bizarre, it would go down in history as a milestone in animation.

@TheSketchyKori the attention economy is definitely not optimized for animators who spend several weeks (if not months) on a piece.

Disney color had its own distinct look, and that look can be attributed to their paint that they created in-house.
Known as “cel-vinyl”, Disney would mix pigments, precipitating chalk, and a gum arabic solution to create over 5,000 different shades of color.
The paint, a water-based gouache, was known for its smooth flow, thick texture, and perfect adhesion to the acetate animation cels.
The ink and paint lab was half chemistry, half artistry, 100% magic.
